About St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.jpg

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is a multi-site hospital and academic health sciences centre that has served Hamilton and its surrounding communities for over 130 years. Founded in 1890 as a 25-bed general hospital, St. Joe’s has grown to over 700 beds at its three campuses, with a team of more than 5,000 staff, physicians, researchers and volunteers providing compassionate, quality patient-centred care. Over the past year, St. Joe’s has been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, caring for our community and administering much-needed vaccines at our new clinic inside the Margaret & Charles Juravinski Centre for Integrated Healthcare on our West 5th Campus.

The pandemic has been hard on all of us. The long lasting feelings of anxiety, fear, depression and isolation from the public health measures in place to slow the spread of COVID-19 are having a devastating impact on the mental health and well-being of all Canadians. Here at St. Joe’s we’re seeing an increase in demand for mental health and addictions care and that’s why we’re allocating funds raised through the Bay Race to supporting these essential programs and services at St. Joe’s. When you walk, run and raise funds in the Around the Bay Road Race, you’ll be helping to support the expansion and renewal of our emergency mental health service at the Charlton Campus, as well as funding programs designed specifically for healthcare workers and first responders who are coping with witnessing the impact of COVID-19 day after day.
