Bay Race Runners Raise $275,000 for our Hospital!
On Sunday, March 27, more than 6,000 participants crossed The Around the Bay Road Race finish line inside First Ontario Centre and many of them helped to raise $275,000 for our Hospital! Funds raised from this year’s race will support two vital projects at St. Joe’s, the expansion and renewal of our Emergency Mental Health Service and building a much-needed CT Suite in our Emergency Department.
We’re incredibly grateful to more than 100 Hospital staff, 20 Hospital and corporate fundraising teams, and many more individual fundraisers who braved the cold and the snow to walk, run and raise funds for St. Joe’s. Among them was 80-member strong Team LiUNA Lending a Hand! LiUNA raised a remarkable $128,000 for St. Joe’s through this year’s Bay Race, and when added to their tallies from Bay Races dating back to 2016, they’ve cumulatively raised $940,000 for our Hospital! That deserves a medal indeed!
Another big thanks goes out to four generous and anonymous St. Joe’s supporters who doubled down on Team St. Joe’s by matching, dollar for dollar, the first $45,000 in donations made to support our Hospital team members. With their help, our hospital teams raised over $120,000! Read the full story on our website or click here to see our Facebook album of fun race day photos.

CARSTAR & Bulldogs Foundation ‘Showcase’ Support for St. Joe’s
The Hamilton Bulldogs may have bested the Oshawa Generals in a score of 3-0 during the OHL Outdoor Showcase on March 14, but they weren’t the only winners of the game. Thanks to a nomination from our longtime supporters at CARSTAR Canada and Driven Brands, St. Joe’s was selected as the Bulldogs Foundation’s charity of choice and presented with a $25,000 donation at the game! The generous donation will be allocated to much-needed services and programs at our Hospital as demand for care for depression, anxiety, and PTSD continues to rise in the wake of COVID-19. A St. Joe’s ICU Nurse is Supporting Palliative Care in the Coolest Way Possible
As featured by CHCH, The Hamilton Spectator, and CBC Hamilton, Yulia Shevchenko, a longtime nurse in St. Joe’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU ) has pledged to take 333 polar plunges into the icy waters of Lake Ontario to raise funds for our Hospital’s 3 Wishes Project.
